One Income But Builds A Home

I always hear people say in panic, “Why are you not working? This is not the trend now!!! It is impossible to live in one income these days!!!! You are losing your mind! Those were my thoughts also when it was only my brother who was working and he is still the one who puts the bacon on the table up until now but someone serves it so beautifully that it makes me change my mind.

I want you to meet my brother (Jerry), his only daughter (Jherra), & his wife (Darwin). This was on their thin & challenging days but they have stood the test of time.

My brother was the one working on a very small monthly income and his wife stayed and turned their house into a home. They raised a child, have a simple but super beautiful and peaceful home, have a modest appliances, enjoyed with friends and have a blast in life. I know that they went through the toughest of days but they emerged the strongest as the time went by. With their small income, they built a house and sheltered both of their respective families.  They have been so generous of their spaces regardless if they were the one who sweat and sacrificed for it.

At their home, he gets up to work and his wife provided a first class service for their family. They have healthy food, a tidy house, and a peaceful home. In most cases, their home has been a shelter for cousins who temporarily strayed away from their respective partners and went home refreshed.

The following are what I learn from a model family who live in just one income:

1) DON’T MIND WHAT PEOPLE WILL SAY. I’m sure they must have feel the pressure of the voices all around them but they stick to what works for them. For them, it’s best that one works while the other stayed at home to raise a child and build a sanctuary of peace. To each it’s own. We have different path to follow and I am sure that they have followed through faithfully and consistently.

2) MAKE THE MOST OF WHAT YOU HAVE. My sister in law can turn a trash into gold. She uses it for decorations,  painted it herself and viola, her home is the best, no bias, promise. She is just a gifted home maker who just minds her own business.

3) BUDGET AND STICK WITH IT. With a very small income that my brother have, she literally sticks to her budget and enjoy life. She has no internet, no facebook account, no instagram, no twitter, but bask on peace. And she did not look disheveled at all. She knows how to carry herself with class and elegance. And wait, my brother is the most at peace without social media too.

That’s my sister in law Darwin. Isn’t she lovely? I have a high regard on her. That does mean to say that we don’t have disagreement? We do but I consider her a great blessing to our family.

4) BE CONTENT. In their home, there is peace because they are contented with what they have but keeps on dreaming. I remember at one point my brother told me, “You serve the Lord, You are driving a car, have a high salary, but you don’t have peace.” It was an eye opener for me and I will never forget it. To desire for material possessions and money drives us crazy but to be content gives us the space to have more. Eventually, my brother has been blessed not just with possessions but with their fats as well (hahahaha).

5) ENJOY LIFE. I’ve seen them respecting each other while enjoying simplicity at its core.

She does the laundry.

But he helped when the rain pours so suddenly.

6) RAISE A GOOD NATURED CHILD. Their daughter though going through teenage challenges is such a lovely lady and our future Miss Universe (hahaha)

I woke up like this. That’s their only daughter who is oh so beautiful.

They have modeled what a contented family really is.

***********************************************************************For me, my brother and his family  is successful and have so much more. Sometimes, he looked down at himself probably because of what he has seen around him. Sometimes we missed the gold within us because we see glitters that will just fade but theirs is a glitter that stays. I will never forget when I was 8 when I prayed to the good Lord that my brother will have the best wife and my sisters will have the best husband. He did answer my prayers.

And, what you think about comes about for for your thoughts will go to your most dominant thoughts. God advices Joshua to STUDY the Book Of Instruction continually. To MEDITATE on it day and night so he will be SURE TO OBEY everything that is written on it. Only then will he prosper and succeed in all he does (Joshua 1:8 NLT). Mahatma Ghandi said, “A man is but a product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes.”

One morning,  I craved for a very cold coke. I washed the clothes with the very cold coke in mind. I cooked rice with the same thought. I read with my cold refreshing coke. At mid afternoon, I find myself drinking a very cold coke put on a plastic with a red and white straw exactly the way I thought. Why? Our body will go to our most dominant thoughts.

What am I saying? Make sure that what you are thinking will drive you towards the success and destiny God has for you. Think of yourself coming out of poverty. Think promotion. Think of health and healing. Think well of yourself. Think that you can. Think that with God’s help all things are possible. Remember, that what you think matters. So, #ThinkWell.

Have a great thinking day to you💕

Say The Possibilities

With men this is IMPOSSIBLE, but with GOD ALL THINGS are POSSIBLE (Matthew 19:26, HCSB). It was in the context when a rich man had a hard time letting go of his possessions in obedience to what Jesus had said. To mention, Jesus said that it’s hard for the rich to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven but God made it POSSIBLE by sending Him. In fact, the BIBLE said that the only work GOD wants from us is to BELIEVE in the ONE HE HAS SENT – JESUS (John 6:29).

BELIEVE that HE is the Son of God. BELIEVE that He died for our sins and after three days, He rose again. BELIEVE that He is what He said He is in His Word. BELIEVE that He hears us when we pray. BELIEVE that He is the POSSIBLE to our lives IMPOSSIBILITIES.

So, what are the impossibilities in your life? Is that cancer that the doctor gives up? Start saying Jesus is my healer and by the stripes that wounded Him, I am HEALED and made WHOLE (Isaiah 53:5). Is that a difficult relationship? Say, Jesus loves me and I can love others. Is that a mountain of debts? Declare that God will provide all my needs according to His riches and glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:19). Is that poverty? Confess Jeremiah 29:11 and say thank you Jesus that you have a GOOD PLAN for my life, a plan to PROSPER me and not to harm me, a plan to give me HOPE and a FUTURE.

Here’s the deal. Do the possible that you can do in the natural and BELIEVE for the IMPOSSIBLE to become POSSIBLE in JESUS NAME!! Wake up with a declaration that “I AM A BELIEVER and not a DOUBTER.

Let’s keep saying what we believe on the INSIDE until we see it on

Have a faith – filled Day to all of you💕💕💕

Get In The Habit

Just this week I heard from a friend who is so disgusted about people who just lounge around hoping the sky parted and fall bread direct to their mouth. I listened and I get irritated with that too. Like her, I also hate laziness a lot and when someone tells me that I’ll do it later, it somehow gets into my nerve. So, I examined myself and discover that I have areas in my life that I also said, “later and next time and tomorrow too.”

I desperately want to change and to improve and so I improvise a way for me to follow through. First, I write down my daily schedule.┬á Second, I follow through my own schedule to instill personal discipline in me. Third, I confess 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 thats says, “Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. The people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.” Fourth, I determined to do this for #21Days because psychologists said that if you do the same thing for #21Days, you can change the old habit and build a new one. Hopefully, we will establish a right habit because what we do daily can make us or break us. An English Poet said, “we first make our habits, then our habits make us.” John Maxwell also said that “the secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine.” Terri Savelle Foy quoted too that “we are rewarded in public for what we do in private.” And, if we see champions all over the world, they did not become champions in the ring, rather, they are recognized in the ring.

So, what are areas in your life that you want to change? Is it being too reactive? Is it laziness? Is it procrastination? Is it hopelessness? Is it the blaming game?

In the book of The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens, Sean Covey mentioned that “we have to get our personal act together before we can be a good team player.” In my church, one of the series that my pastor taught us is Taking Responsibility For Your Life. That we have to come to the point that we will not hide behind our prayers but pray and get up and do something. If the Bible is very clear to us, then we don’t even need to pray about it, LET’S JUST DO IT. Just like for instance the verse in Habbakkuk 2:2 that says, “And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run.” That’s a verse that we don’t need to pray about. If we have visions, dreams, and goals in life, WE WILL WRITE IT. Then let’s pray what we write and let’s run with it.

The Bible is simple. The only way to complicate it is not to do it.

So, together, let’s get in the habit of being a doer of the Word. A doer of our vision and dreams. He loves to see us successful but we have to cooperate with Him by doing something and see Him blessing the works of our hands.

Have a successful habit that makes you, not a habit that breaks you💕
