BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF

I love making my To Do List and it is a fulfilment if I will be able to check the Finished section at the end of the day. Today happens to be that day when I am looking forward to put a check mark on the activity that has been accomplished on the day. For some reason, I happened to write two activities in a row and I’m done with one but not with the other. Because I am so enthusiastic on the checking part, I checked it and something on my spirit says, “be honest with yourself.” Checking it on the Finished section is fooling myself. It was very clear that I am not done with the two tasks and to check it means I am lying even to myself. Yes, no one will be able to know about it except God but I know it and it’s nothing but a lie. I got up from my checklist and complete the task. Then, I realize that aside from being lazy, lying to myself has been a habit that has been developed in my life. You see, habit is an addictive practice and people will not be able to know it because I appear to be honest when I am around them. I speak well. I encouraged well. I dress well. Perfect. But I feel the discomfort of my dishonesty. Today is an awakening. Yet, I become so overwhelmed again. How am I going to maintain honesty with myself when the easiest person to be fooled is me by me?

So how am I going to do it? I will simply do what I have started today. I will start with my to do list and check what has been done and I will do it daily for 21 days. I read that we can make and break a habit in 21 days. So, before I will tell others to do this which is easier, I will commit to enforce this to myself.

My mentor, Terri Savelle Foy said, God can’t use me publicly until I got victory over myself privately. Even David, the great King killed the lion and the bear privately before he has the confidence of killing Goliath publicly.

And before I will be overwhelmed I reminded myself with this verse:

2 Corinthians 12:9 (MSG) and then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness.

So how about you?

What habit did you hear from the Holy Spirit that needs to be broken?

What habit did you hear from the Holy Spirit that you need to develop?

If you hear from God then you can make a decision to do it now. Jim Rohn once said, tomorrow is the only day of the year that appeals to a lazy man. If you have not heard from God, then listen to Him again tomorrow and make sure to have your notebook ready so you will be able to write what He will have to say.

Have a great day to you and I am looking forward to hear your personal progress in Jesus name.
